Comedy specials
I watched some comedy specials while doing "intensive resting."
I enjoyed:
Demetri Martin, "The Overthinker", observational humor and witty charts.
Simon Amstell, "Set Free", queer Jewish identity, personal growth. A couple of weird moments but overall very great and surprisingly emotional.
Hari Kondabolu, "Warn Your Relatives", political, anti-racist.
I did not like/finish:
Greg Davies, "You Magnificent Beast", self-effacing fatphobia.
all on Netflix.

Greg Davies' comedy always makes me sad. It's a shame because he's so enjoyable on Taskmaster.

we loved the Netflix series Standing Up, following four young comedians hoping to make it big. Set in Paris so in French, but the dub at least matches the captions. Bling had one viral hit and is coasting rapidly downhill; his sister runs the club they all perform at. Nezir delivers food, takes care of his disabled dad, helps all the other comics with their jokes. Aïssatou goes dirty with big results, while Apolline sneaks away from her upper-class family's expectations of university success.
