Laptop problem oh noes

My laptop is having power problems, which is a particular curse of mine. Since this is the 2nd power cord for this laptop, I begin to suspect the problem is in the laptop, not the cord.

I will take suggestions if you have them. I have an Acer Aspire 4730Z that I just got in the Spring, so it's not old.

Did I mention I have work to do, actual paid work that's been gathering dust? Also an important article I want to write? And lots of other important things to do that I rely on my laptop for?

The point where the power cord connects to a laptop can often get messed up, so that might be it. Is it still under any kind of warranty? If so, it'd be worth taking it to someone who can do a repair under warranty, which would presumably be free, although might be time-consuming if you have to mail it...

What is it with you and power cords? Do you stop watches, too?

I have a backup laptop you could borrow...

I had problems with an acer aspire, it was the battery that made problems. I took it out and everything worked fine. but my problems were keyboard and mouse not working.
