So a few of us were watching the Olympics coverage last night. The men's cross-country skiing combined event:

Three racers are well out in front, two U.S.-ians and an Austrian. The Austrian finishes third.

The commentators are all RAH RAH AMERICA! And for the Austrian: "That's the best thing he's ever done on skis."

Hah, what asses. It's what I expect, watching US coverage, but still, there's such disdain for the other countries that it's embarrassing! Because it's all about WINNING and we are the WINNINGEST!

I wonder if those commentators were watching the awesome women's speed-skating relay the other night and felt they needed to stir up USA-Powah, seeing as how the US team almost got lapped and only medaled because the South Korean team got disqualified for being too awesome.* GO USA!

(*My take, but I'm biased - there was some skate or arm touching involved, I think.)

I know, right? I have not watched anything except Thursday's coverage, because we don't have TV in the apartment, but just that was enough to get me annoyed at the announcers.
