What i watched today!
The trouble with angels - 1966, dir. Ida Lupino. Library DVD.
This was a cute story about 2 mischievous girls at a Catholic boarding school. They are BFFs who are fond of pranks. The story covers their three years at school, and is kind of episodic. I enjoyed that there are very few men in this movie. It's written and directed by women. A little too long at 1 hour 52 min.
Palm Springs - 2020, Hulu.
Really enjoyable time-loop story. Andy Samberg is just ridiculously charming. I like that it started with him already in the time loop. The sunny desert landscape was nice to look at especially during February in Wisconsin.

Glad you enjoyed Palm Springs!
We just watched Nomadland on HULU. It celebrates wide-open landscapes, features Frances McDormand being her usual awesome self, as well as a bunch of folks who are actually living in their vans and RVs. It's another semi-documentary: it's based in part on a book of the same name, which explores how the 2008 crash cut the foundation out from under over-60s folks who've lost all their savings, pensions, and jobs.
I just noticed the crash blossom of "out from under over-" in that sentence. English is weird
So: great scenery, deliberate pacing, one person dies from cancer off-screen, she doesn't adopt the dog and that's okay. Perfect pick for our Movie Night, which I hope we'll sometime have again.
