queer comics, and misc

Abbie is acting a little bit weird. Today I got ready for a walk, but she started shaking and refused to get off the couch. So I left her behind and went walking by myself. She's been a little bit restless tonight but not terribly so. I think this is simply due to the weather changing and the different noises that happen in the Fall, but who knows.

Today I rested, read a little bit, watched some TV. My roommate and I are watching Leverage; tonight's episode was the adorable "The Fairy Godmother Job."

I read 2 queer comics, and am cross-posting my Goodreads comments below.

Movie notes: Tears of the Sun

As you may know i like to watch silly action movies to relax and help me rest. I checked out "Tears of the Sun" from the library thinking it might be such a film, just based on Bruce Willis' face on the cover. It was unexpectedly serious, and weirdly really good. It definitely gave me a case of the feels.

Willis plays a Navy SEAL who is tasked with saving a doctor (Monica Bellucci) from a mission in Nigeria, amidst a civil war. She naturally doesn't want to leave her patients and friends, and ultimately convinces the SEAL team to help the refugees travel to the border with Cameroon. Meanwhile they are being chased by enemy soldiers.

The story was so tense at times that I had to pause it and take a break. It had a good message about following one's conscience and fuck the consequences.

Content notes for war, guns, blood, rape, child harm.
