It's the Monday before WisCon!

I am really happy with some of my photos lately. This one is for "Bug's Eye" theme at The Photography Experience at LJ.

Today I finished reading The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, one of the winners of this year's Tiptree Awards. We read it for Beer and Marmalade Book Club.

All I can really say is HOLY CRAP WOW and WHEN DOES THE NEXT BOOK COME OUT?! And it was MEAN to end on a cliff hanger like that!!

I'm off to book club in a few minutes. I'm all sinus-headachey lately, boo, but super excited for WisCon!!!!!!

You know, I used to have the county fair, in my youth. It was the best week of the year. I'm kind of a joiner; I was really involved in 4-H. Not only did I participate in 20 different project areas, in was in youth leaders, an officer in the club, I did interstate exchange, state records, the communications contest, etc etc. But the county fair was the best! I showed my livestock and my different projects, got to see friends I hardly ever saw, ate fair food (ick), and roamed around the fairgrounds with free rein with my friends, all week. It was fantastic.

Well, now I have WisCon to get excited about! OK, there is no livestock, no fair food (good), but I do get to see and meet people, I get to volunteer, and I have something to look forward to every year where I can hang out with my friends and talk about stuff I love. There are similarities.
