How to Train your Dragon

I spent a good chunk of today hanging out with [personal profile] were_duck and her girlfriend watching Avatar: the Last Airbender episodes and eating good food. Later [personal profile] aria, [personal profile] laceblade, and Antoine joined us and we went to see How to Train Your Dragon.

Once someone told me that movies are more enjoyable when she watches them with me: it's the Sasha effect, because I enjoy the experience of movies so much (most of the time). This was true of our whole group this time! A man in front of us told us, non-sarcastically, that he enjoyed the movie more because of us. We oohed and awwwed and even clapped at the end. We were all caught up in the tale of Hiccup and Toothless! I whispered to [personal profile] aria that every time Hiccup talked to his dad, it seemed like a metaphor for queerness, and this caused even more giggles from our quarter.

Stoic (the dad): You're keeping secrets!
Hiccup (awkardly): Um, I am...?
Stoic: What's this about a dragon!?!
Hiccup: A dragon....? Uh... I'm really tired!
(paraphrased etc.)

It was adorable. Recommended! Also good disability stuff!

My shoulder and back are fucked up. I convinced Aria to give me a bit of a backrub which helped forestall a headache and I think she was shocked at the knots that comprise the Alien Baby in my right shoulder.

It is hot. One more day until new job.

Ooooh, that movie is adorable!

As for the heat - cold watermelon is the perfect cure (other than an A.C.)

I had hands on the alien baby back on Thursday, and it is a very gnarly exopodlet indeed.

Is Train Your Dragon a movie-theater movie, or do you think it will be equally cool on DVD?
