Sorcha update

Feeling like I'm on doggie death-watch. Sorcha was doing pretty well up until this weekend. At which point she no longer wanted to go to the park and no longer wanted to eat. The only thing she'd eat was bacon, so I cooked up all the bacon I had and gave it all to her. Her hair is shedding out (unusual for her) and she is panting a lot, and whining some especially at night. She will still get up to go outside, if I make her. Walking seems OK but getting up and down to the ground is a bit difficult. The lack of appetite seems to me to be the worst problem. If she won't eat, I can't get the pain pills in her, plus she can't keep her strength up, etc.

I emailed the vet and asked about euthanasia. They will come to the house and do it. That option is more expensive (about 3 times so) but may be worth it? I'm not sure. I don't have much money but it would be less stressful on her not to have to go to the vet. It's so weird to think about scheduling such an appointment.

...and now she's eating some kibble, so who knows what tomorrow will bring?

this is a tough time

do you have a car/access to a car? or any other practical concerns re: making it to the vet?

There's a service here called "Home to Heaven" that does home euthanasia and that's all they do. They are so gentle. It cost $100 for a big dog; not that much more than taking him to the vet would have been.

I found this page searching for "home veterinary euthanasia madison wi"
http://inhomepeteuthanasia.com/index.php?option=com_sobi2&catid=50&Itemid=55
but I couldn't find prices on the webpages of the services it links to. I think you have to call each of them for that information.

I have ~$50 in my Paypal right now, which I will gladly send you to make Sorcha more comfortable. Send me your email.

I'm so sorry. I wish I had known about the home option for my dog. Her passing would have been easier on her and for the family.

OH, I'm so sorry this time has come, and so glad you've been able to enjoy the past few months.

My experience with at-the-vet euthenasia was 100% more horrible, as well. We're having luck squeezing liquid meds on to gummy white bread, which Lucy will eat even if she won't eat anything else. The other possibility is suppositories, but ...

Sending old-dog-snuggles your way.

I don't have any practical advice, but wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and Sorcha.

Sending love to you and Sorcha, and hopes for clarity and wisdom as how to best traverse the path ahead for both of your sakes.

I'm so sorry for you and her. You are both in my thoughts; I hope the end will be as soft as possible, and that you both can be soothed. <333
