a nice couple of days

The weather here feels like late May or early June, except there's no leaves on the trees, and no bugs. We've had a couple of days in the 70s F and it's also fairly warm at night. I moved a couple of my plants outside today; they'll probably have to come back in but I love putting them out on the stoop to enjoy the sun and the air.

Yesterday I had a lovely lunch in Jesse's back yard with a couple of friends. (We are all either fully or half-vaccinated. I'm pretty amazed that the vaccine was developed and available so quickly.)

I broke my glasses in the morning, so yesterday was a bit of an adventure, trying to find things to do that did not involve being able to see well. I slept a lot and listened to some podfic.

Today I woke up early and took a cab into the clinic to get my glasses fixed. This only took about 5 minutes, but I asked about getting an eye exam, and they had an opening in an hour. The receptionist suggested hanging out at McDonald's across the street, which is not my jam, but it gave me the idea of walking down to Indie Coffee, where I ordered a waffle and sat out back on their patio.

Got my eye exam with an extremely young doctor, then cabbed it home. Got a bit of a headache.

Tonight was the first night I sat outside on the stoop for supper. Hopefully there will be many more such days.

Watched: Canine Intervention, eps 1 and 2, on Netflix. This was fine but I don't know that I will continue with it.

It's extremely cold here and I'm getting a bit of cabin fever. I did manage a walk around the block today, and I actually slept last night. Still having asthma, but it didn't feel quite so bad today. I was prescribed a new type of inhaler, but cannot afford the co-pay. Still waiting on my paperwork to go through for medication assistance; I haven't taken my Enbrel since the 3rd week of January.

In the last couple of days I watched:
WandaVision, through ep. 5. The first few episodes were kind of slow and weird; it picked up in episode 4.
Boa vs. Python, a B movie starring David Hewlett. Bad and silly, lots of gratuitous naked ladies and such.

I super enjoyed the new trailer for Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Quick Rec: Ted Lasso

I do fine if I sit quietly, but any physical activity leaves me breathing hard. We're having a cold snap, the first real one in a long time. It's been a mild winter up until now. I went to the basement and brought up the bin of extra warm clothes. The cold and asthma situation is giving me a bit of cabin fever: no dog park, no walks.

I watched all of the TV show "Ted Lasso" in two days. It's on Apple TV and is a half-hour comedy/drama. Ted is an American football coach who is hired to coach a UK football club. It's funny, warm, and kind, and I really recommend it. I laughed and cheered. Ted is like Mr. Rogers; he has this deep well of patience, kindness, and belief in people. He's not perfect but he's very good.

Just Breathe

The last few days we've had a record-setting heat wave, with temps in the high 80s and low 90s (right now it's 25 C/ 77 F AT NIGHT). My asthma is acting up and I have been feeling more sad than usual. I get this burning pain in my ribs and sternum and mouth. I've been napping during the day and staying up late, but I haven't been doing much with my time.

To get some good AC I went to the cheap seat movie theater tonight and saw "Step." This is a documentary about a Step dance team at a girls' high school in Baltimore. The film focuses entirely on black girls and women. Recommended.
