Absolutely. Society is locked into "two legs good, four wheels bad'. And one consequence is people taking forever to make the switch (speaking from personal experience here!) because of how other people will view them, no matter that it may make sense for them.
And society doesn't understand how negative it is being, to the point it thinks it's being positive.
