WWII, England
Once I started reading this fic I couldn't put it down. It has alternating view points between a disabled English WWI veteran and a young deserter from the German Army, during WWII in England. The characters are exceptionally well drawn. Hugh, the Englishman, has lung problems from gas attacks. This fic got at some of my favorite themes: living with disability (for Hugh), queer identity (for both charcters), and a slowly building relationship. I loved it.
