I went to see the musical "Fun Home" tonight with some friends from Books to Prisoners group. I loved it. The actors were very talented local people. There were 3 different Alisons representing 3 times in her life; 2 of them were black or mixed-race and one was white. The staging was sort of minimal, with some neat light effects. It's wild to think of adapting a cerebral book like this to the stage. The result is pretty ingenious. More lesbian stories on the stage, please.
The seats were ok-- padded, and then I had the rail of the balcony in front of me. Much better than my previous theater experiences. I also deliberately wore my most comfortable clothes.
I also ran into 4 people I knew in the lobby (outside of the group I went with).
Today I also watched some more Daredevil which I'm really enjoying. More on that later.
