The Tascam 424 was a portable four-track mixer and cassette recorder all in one tidy package. The link has a guide to recording and an overview user manual, both PDF, so you may be able to copy graphics out of there if that's on offer.
So it fits nicely into Logan being undercut by obsolescent technology: there's no way parts or even cassette tapes are available in the Dark Angle universe (unless there's a WalMart floating on unobtainium).
