I have a job interview tomorrow. I think I know what I'm going to wear, but it's always fun to do a poll. I tried to do outfit photos but they didn't turn out well with the bad lighting in my room.

Outfit one is brown plaid trousers, navy v-neck t-shirt (new), and tan blazer with piping.
Outfit two is grayish/brownish trousers (new), mint striped button-up shirt, green wool blazer with a horse pin on it. Each has an appropriate hat.





I neglected to brush/style my hair here, which tells you something about me.

You just rock the hats, and you know it.

If you tuck your hair up they may think you're losing your hair due to Horrible Illness. But if they ask, you can deflect.

I hope you will wear your belt of invincibility, as well your hat of style and your teeth of no-snark-today!

The hat is cute, but I think no hat is better for an interview.

This may be a regional thing or an industry thing, but my immediate reaction was no no no on the hat for an interview. If it makes you feel good you could wear it there and then carry it. But otherwise, I would vote a very strong no on that. I'm also not crazy about a t-shirt as interview-ware, even under a nice jacket, but that would depend entirely on the cut of the jacket, the neckline of the t-shirt, whether it looks very obviously like cotton, etc. etc. And also, may be another regional/industry thing.

I think the hat looks marvelously saucy for funtimes, but perhaps TOO saucy for interviews?

I like the sound of the green tone interview outfit! I would feel unsure about wearing a t-shirt to an interview as well... you know your area and industry best, but when in doubt for job interviews it's always better to be over- than under-dressed!

I think I am pro-hat overall, though taking it off for the interview itself sounds like a good idea. But maybe they could see you walk in rocking your hat and think "wow, that candidate can really rock a hat!" :)

Regarding shirts, I think you are right. I like the green tone outfit better anyway. The weak point in my wardrobe is my shirts since I haven't quite figured out what to wear over my rather large boobs; also I hate ironing.

Based on what other people have said I'll likely take the hat off when I get there. But the high tomorrow is supposed to be 4 degrees F so I need some kind of hat! (I do wear hats normally to work due to fluorescent light issues, but won't be mentioning that obviously.)

Honestly I'd love to just wear a dress and avoid the shirt issue all together, but it's supposed to only get to 4 degrees F here tomorrow... so no go.

Yeah, the shirt thing is a problem for us well-stacked. There are lots of nice camisole options out there like this one with good detailing, but most of the time I want something with at least capped sleeves, depending on the weather and the jacket. There are a number of synthetics now that look nice enough IMO, and which do good stretchy knits to fit over the boobs, But they're weirdly hard to find. I found a couple options at Chikos once, which was weird since I otherwise kinda hate them, not sure if they're near you.

Spaghetti straps make me feel like I have linebacker shoulders and even bigger boobs. I'm with you on the capped sleeves. I suppose I will have to branch out of my Good Will shopping and find some store that has what I am looking for, if I can figure out what that is. :)

The hat is very dapper! I voted for it, but like others I'm not totally sure if it's really appropriate for an interview. Obviously there are places where it would be no problem (and might even be a point in your favor), so if you think the place you're interviewing at is one of those places, then I'd say absolutely go with the hat. (If you're not sure, then yeah, maybe take it off when you get there.)
