Yes, this. After experiences with aggressive strangers, I started not getting out of the powerchair, but instead reaching up for things on supermarket shelves while seated, purely because of fear of harassment.
As a direct result, I managed to accidentally give myself shoulder bursitis from all this reaching up, had SEVERE new pain, and needed more than $900 worth of physio treatment, which could have been avoided, had I not been made afraid of people harassing me for standing up.
(I'm now back to standing up to reach for things, but there's still the flinch when I do it, the fear of harassment.)
