Jan. 16th, 2018 11:24 pmHaving some pretty bad facial pain the last couple of days, which makes it hard to hold a thought in my head for longer than 30 seconds.
But I have an idea for a wiscon panel (possibly 2) and would be interested in any feedback / suggestions--
something about how to interact with the police / ICE agents, etc
and also, alternatives to calling the police when something is going on
Today I really enjoyed going to LGBT books to prisoners!

I find myself calling the police ALL THE TIME about
a) my next-door neighbours domestic violence incidents
b) physical altercations happening in public
(in Australia, the police don't tend to shoot unarmed people)
but it would be nice to have an alternative...

I think there is a need for community organizations that can do de-escalation and help people out in these situations.
