Free Solo - documentary (I got this from the library)
I loved this doc about Alex Honnold, a free solo rock climber (meaning NO ROPES) and his dream to climb El Capitan. It's largely a portrait of Alex, who is a bit of an odd person. I keep thinking about his insight of free climbing being like warrior culture. His friends call him Spock because he's not very emotional, but there's a bit of the Klingon in him too. I also enjoyed feeling bewildered by his relationship with his girlfriend, who seems like a much more conventional person. This is very beautiful, gripping, and fascinating. Recommended if you are interested in the subject matter or like documentaries. Not recommended if you are afraid of heights.
