I have been wondering that, too... I am kind of wondering if crossposted entries will be duplicated? Because that'd be good in terms of you would have all of the comments from either platform, but bad in that you'd have two of every post since May...
Really? That'd be nice--I remember maevele I think imported after she'd been cross-posting & had two of every entry. I imported a while ago but then cross-posted w/different sets of comments for a bit--I'd really like to import the LJ comments to the corresponding entries on DW but I don't know if that's possible... & I dunno if I really want two sets of those entries!
Good to know, thank you! I think I will also begin importing, then.
Out of curiosity, what happens to any comment that were left in LJ when you import to DW on posts you had crossposted from DW? Do they get added to the DW version or do they just not come through in the import at all?
They get added to the comments on the matching DW post. I don't know about the ordering (I don't get enough comments for that to have been an issue), but I would assume it either tacks the LJ comment threads on after the DW threads existing at import time, or intersperses the threads based on the timestamps of the first comment in each thread.
How did you crosspost them? By setting up external accounts here and checking the tickyboxes on the update page, or by copying and pasting the entry content to the update window on another site?
I mostly use the crossposting utility. There have been a few posts here and there that I have manually cross-posted, due to various reasons like before I had filters set up; but looking now-- all my posts seem to be duplicated. I'm looking at some older posts (August) and they are duplicated-- I'm quite sure I used the crossposting utility for these.
I thought I'd let you know, I got a nice response from support. The duplication happened because of the underscore in my username-- confusion over - vs. _ ; they are working on a patch to fix this, and in the meantime can purge my journal of the duplicated content.

Date: 2009-09-25 04:44 pm (UTC)No, crossposted entries (so long as they were made using DW's crossposting feature, rather than manually) will not be duplicated when importing.
There was a time when that was the case, but no longer. I've imported my journal a couple of times since that improvement went live, and it works.
