My reliably social time of the week is after I swim three times a week. I love my pool because the average user age is around 60; there's almost no tight spandex and lots of us have pain & function issues. And being me, I've always been evangelizing for the wonders of assistive tech, which has led to many interesting conversations.
(I do hear disturbingly high negative self-talk around the scale. Pretty much the same amount as when I worked out at the undergraduate facility, the "oh! noes" came from very thin women; at my pool now, the same reaction comes from women 40 years older, and 30 pounds heavier. It's not about what we weigh or how we look, it's about never meeting an unmeetable standard.)
