which reinforces that the soldiers' version was more creative and more heartfelt. (As well as a testimony to the fact that war is huge stretches of boredom interspersed with terror.)

Lol, I didn't have to do any wading at all. The Call me maybe vid came up on my FB feed. Well I guess I waded thru Facebook. I admit I didn't bother to watch the Dolphins version.

I found the side by side video illuminating. Agree that the soldiers' version is more heartfelt.

When I first moved with my roommate, an army vet (an officer not a grunt but still), he was in the middle of studying for first year law exams, so we talked little. Until one evening I wanted a laugh so put on "I'm on a Boat". He came out of his room to tell me how often they watched and really enjoyed that in Afghanistan.
