Somewhat out of boredom and a desire to look at shiny things, I seem to be using Tumblr a bit more, despite the fact that I find it frustrating to use. I have two Tumblrs: WomeninGlasses and Sashafeather.

How do I change which one is the default, so that when I reblog something it goes to SashaFeather first?

How do I get tags to automatically wrap?

How do I block things on Tumblr?

While I'm at it, how do I block people on Twitter? (It's none of you.)

For 3 out of 4 of these, you should install the x-kit extension to your browser and select those options. IT'S AMAZEBALLS.

For blocking "things," you can blacklist tags (and also whitelist, so like if you only care about one Avenger or something), & also block specific posts, like if everyone on your list keeps posting the same snowflake post or whatever.

Yeah - the time spent making it usable has made it worth it to me, but ymmv, of course.
I find the "post block" option so helpful for things that go viral. Even cute things, like this photoset of a lion cub playing in fall leaves - after 5 times it gets old - even moreso for things I find mildly offensive or etc.

Unfortunately, you can't change which one is the default - they don't let you do that. Some people do it by renaming, but that doesn't swap the posts, just changes the name of the two posts.

Tags automatically wrapping requires an extension - I use xkit, which also has a lot of other features; it's under their dashboard tweaks extension iirc. There are other options too but they tend to require more maintenance whenever tumblr changes, which is often.

To block things on tumblr - do you mean users or terms? If terms, either xkit's blacklist extension or tumblr savior - tumblr savior is better for many people because it blocks terms in posts and things I think? But it doesn't work for me, so I use blacklist. If users, tumblr block page.

I use this userstyle (installed in stylish) to block people on twitter (write new style -> blank style -> copy/paste into the text box and put a name into the name box:

@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document url("https://twitter.com/") {
div[data-screen-name="SCREENAME"] {display: none !important;}
}

Yeah. Tumblr's UI is horrrrrible and all their decisions just make no sense at all. It can take a lot of work to make it usable :(

Fortunately with xkit installed, determining which of your blogs a reblog ends up on is easy peasy. I have five separate tumblrs, which is only manageable because of xkit.

Just repeating something I read elseweb — for all the snotty snarkers who say women can't do and/or can't tolerate coding and tech, exhibit 1: tumblr.
