What I hope happens here, with an influx of users, is that communities get revived.

I am thinking of re-starting [community profile] shutterspeed. Would anyone like to co-mod with me?
The idea is, a photo prompt every two weeks, then people post their photos (or links to photos), for those 2 weeks.

We could do idea regeneration for prompts in posts every so often.

here is how you set up your open id so you can comment on my brilliant and funny posts so i know you know how brilliant and funny they are.

go here: http://www.dreamwidth.org/openid/

put your lj url in. so, username.livejournal.com .

hit the button.

lj will ask if it can pass credentials to dw. you will say yes. it's not sharing your password, it's just saying "no, really, she's who she says she is".

you say "why kal! you are so brilliant and funny!" in response to one of my posts.

you only have to do this set up bit once. [end copy and pasted portion]

In addition, if you want on my filters, and are not, I might have to put you on them again at DW. I might do a filter re-check soon.

I admit I was a bit reluctant about Dreamwidth at first, because I was quite attached to LJ, and I moved over mostly because many fan fiction/vidders/fandom people that I respect and admire were doing so.

But more and more, I find I want to make it my primary journaling site. There are a few simple reasons for this.

Dreamwidth is an Open Source community that is run by 75% women. [personal profile] damned_colonial gave a great talk about women in open source and how rare this is in the OS culture: Standing Out in the Crowd.

Here are DW's Guiding Principles.

Here is DW's impressive diversity statement.

We welcome people of any gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, size, nationality, sexual orientation, ability level, religion, culture, subculture, and political opinion.
...
We think accessibility for people with disabilities is a priority, not an afterthought. We think neurodiversity is a feature, not a bug. We believe in being inclusive, welcoming, and supportive of anyone who comes to us with good faith and the desire to build a community.

This is what I'm about. This is where I want to be.
